I think that this country is a discrace in many aspects. One i feel quite strongly about is defending yourself/family in your own home. Just the other day another person has been sent to jail for protecting his family against a burglar who has been convicted of many awful crimes including some involving weapons. There was a case a while back where an old lady in her 90's was repeatedly burgled, so her son put up barbed wire around the walls of her house. Guess what, the council made him take it down saying it could cause injury to someone climing over the wall - funny that - seeing as it was its sole purpose. If someone gets hurt climbing over a wall into someone elses property - then whose fault is that. Its a discrace that people would be in a position to sue the home owner if they get hurt whilst illegally trying to enter that property. One of the many laws that needs attention IMHO.

I think it's scandalous things like that. The barbed wire thing tho - the house behind us has got glass fragments cemented into the top of their wall! :o

i totally agree with you there. The culture is a culture of sueing and of greed. The law needs changing and radicaly.

I think that we should be allowed to deal out an "appropriate" form of punishment ourselves if we catch someone trespassing on our property.

me goes to town hall to see if automated gatling gun defenc system is legal. XD
in america its worse a burglar sucessfully sued a granny for damages after he fell thorough the roof of her house and has injured by a knife on her kitchen table.
this has got to be sorted maybe if burglars were sorted out then ppl would have to do it themselves.

America is joke. If someone collapses in the street then you should keep clear. If you perform resuscitation on that person (which 90% of the time requires you to break the chest bone) and they die - the family will sue you. If they survive then they will sue you for breaking their chest bone. Its the same in Germany. Totally rediculous.

The USA have taken the compensation culture and sueing just too far.

The problem is we are slowly becoming more like the USA, lets sue them for causing mental anguish at thinking we are becoming like them :D

There is too much greed in the world today. It will only get worse as the next generation come.

I was told i was on the D/E borderline in Economics.

did my A2 and got a high B overall in it. A,B,C in teh papers.

So its not what the teachers tell you its what you yourself know and feel you are going to get.

In Physics i was told to aim for a D, got a U :o

Back on topic - I dont give a damn what the laws are - if someone tries to break into my house, they will leave in an ambulance. Guy tried to break in a coupl eof years ago - I kicked hom down the stairs, he broke a number of bones, and the police lifted me !!! Even though he had a hunting knife in his pocket (I didnt know that at the time). I was ordered to pay him compensation too. If threatened, I do attack first - I would rather get in trouble with the law and be alive, than be dead !!!

If someone breaks into your house it is your DUTY to batter them so bad they leave in an ambulance/hearse this is the only way that the law will change if enough ppl turn to vigilantyism

France require you by law to give assistance........
You can be charged for idly standing by. Now that's at least one thing they've got right.

A) 3 spares a week? lucky boy...

B) I would get sent down for contempt of court. There is no way I would stay within my right mind if that happenned (Hence large rose bushes around property :D
